Hello, the Sneezies are back!
This morning we were lucky enough to be woken up at 7:15 to lovely Mormon parodies of our favorite songs rather than Dallas’s “wakey wakey rise and shine” that we are used to. Once we hopped on the bus we were treated to a scrumptious breakfast of doughnuts, grapes and Capri-suns. We rode for 30 minutes and arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah to tour the Temple Square home of the Mormons. We split into two groups led by missionaries to tour the tabernacle and the convocation center. We learned a lot about the beliefs of the Mormons and looked at the art work. The organs were enormous and played a gorgeous sound. We were shocked to learn that the state bird of Utah is the seagull considering that it is landlocked by two other states. Their largest auditorium could seat 21,000 people and millions more watch the conference live online that occurs semi-annually.
After our tour concluded we were let loose to explore the Salt Lake Mall where everyone immediately fled to Chick-fil-a in search of the Lord’s chicken. The counselors all came around searching for our receipts so they could get extra points on their app. Along with Chick-fil-a, some of us went to the Apple store to call home and thank them for our packages as well as check the news we have been missing. We were most surprised to learn that our president, Joe Biden, fell off a bicycle like a week ago. After spending what was probably way too much money, we got back on the bus and headed to the Wally-World in Logan, Utah. Although this was only a quick 30 minutes stop, many of us managed to find very interesting and highly fashionable outfits for the upcoming rodeo. Apparently people felt they needed more snacks despite what was opened yesterday.
We then made the drive to Bear Lake in northern Utah where we will be bathing in the clear, clean, cold lake water and having a delicious meal of fettuccine, salad, garlic bread, popcorn and cookies. It was very filling and absolutely delicious. After dinner we headed down towards the lake where we had a water balloon toss. Tonight, the Sleepy's were the winners! After the toss ended, Dallas wanted more pictures but of course the other counselors started a water balloon fight across the sand. After everyone was soaked from the balloons, we went running into the lake. There were many games played in the cold water including a chicken fight. We then ended the night with a sing along as we watched the sun set over the beautiful mountains and water.
Sneezies out!
