Day 22- Kentucky

Day 22-Kentucky

Good evening, the Grumpies are back for our second to last blog! We woke up after a restless night battling raccoons; Henry was later informed that he had a cuddle buddy… We hit the road at 7, made a pit stop in Indiana, and then continued into Kentucky. The bus ride was especially quiet as we could sleep in peace from the wilderness.

After arriving at Churchill Downs, we were met by Grant and a tour guide. We were led to the track as today also happened to be a race day!  We placed fake bets on which horses would win. Unfortunately most of us lost, but Noah chose wisely and gained bragging rights as Hollis crossed the finish line first. On the tour, we also visited the paddock, grand stand, and the Kentucky Derby Museum.

We loaded back into the bus and van, separated into our groups, and were given our final competition assignment: TWB Talent Show. We were told to recap our TWB experience in any form. As we brainstormed our performances, we got closer and closer to our final stop of the trip: The Original Kentucky Fried Chicken. The Sneezies invaded the kitchen and whipped up the best that Colonel Harland Sanders’ 11 Herbs and Spices could offer. We drooled over fried chicken, mac and cheese, green beans, mashed potatoes, and gravy, and washed it down with sweet tea and lemonade. Then the crew toured the exhibits and loaded up on KFC merchandise before continuing to our campsite.

Don't mind Gabe; he's just disposing of the raccoons' bodies.

MIC DROPPPPPPP! GRUMPIES OUT!

The one moment of the skit the Happies weren't sprinting in circles.

One final sing along before coming home.

HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY GABE!

Around 9 we got to our final sleeping grounds of the trip, where we shared our performances. Each of the groups had the others rolling; the Grumpies sang a Beastie Boys style rap, the Bashfuls held an award ceremony, the Happies and Sleepies did a skit, the Dopeys told a fairy tale, and the Sneezies performed a reality TV show. In the end, the Sleepies claimed victory, winning the points necessary to put them in the lead overall. Harrison just shocked the world by donning Texas Longhorn apparel, a stark contrast to his usual wardrobe of exclusively Clemson merch. Tonight we are so thankful to be sleeping indoors, however we are sad to realize it is our last night together… we’ll be back tomorrow with the final blog post of Trip 1!
