Day 16- Jackson Hole, Tetons, Yellowstone

Day 16: Yellowstone

The Sneezies are back for the last time…

We woke up in Utah covered in…snow? (fuzz from cottonwood trees). We had another very cold night, which seemed even colder after our freezing lake “showers.” We saw two new states today (Idaho and Wyoming). However, most of us missed Idaho as we were catching up on our sleep during the bus ride. We had a packed day today. Our first stop was Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We bought souvenirs, bison burgers, ice cream, and a variety of huckleberry treats. Lots of money was spent in Jackson Hole. Next stop: Grand Tetons! Or as Grant would say, “Grant Tetons.” We visited the Chapel of Transfiguration and admired the picture-perfect views of Wyoming. Hopping back on the road we made our way into Yellowstone National Park to see the famous “Old Faithful” geyser. Except, we missed it by a couple of minutes. This gave us an hour to explore Yellowstone’s gift shops, use the bathrooms and grub on some very mid cafeteria food and ice cream (it was quite delicious for this trip though).

Welcome to Wyoming!

We gathered back near the geyser to experience the “explosion” of “Old Faithful” and it was mind blowing. The sneezies especially could not believe how far the water shot up from the ground which ended up being over 100 feet! TWB then had a very special park ranger tour guide (our counselor, Anna) take us through a trail filled with hot springs, more geysers and a cool little pool that bubbled like a volcano (Don’t worry parents. it was not explosive). It was amazing to experience these natural occurrences of the earth with Dr. Anna “pretty princess” Ramsey, a graduate of both Duke and Stanford, earning her doctorate in “Geyserology.” She was dressed in a flannel, designer “wally-world” bag shoes, and a pink cowboy hat as she led us through our educational adventure…and grabbed the attention of other tourists.

After our pizza wrap dinner on the bus, Grant told us our next stop would be a three mile hike to see the Little Grand Canyon. We were relieved to find the “three mile” part was just a joke. As we continued our drive through Yellowstone we were on the lookout for bison, elk, and bears. To our delight we saw all 3 and even had to wait for some bison to cross the road. Many of us were in shock and couldn’t stop taking pictures like we were on a safari.

Us sneezies were sent to the van to write this blog. After watching the beautiful Wyoming sunset as we drove the winding roads of Yellowstone, we got to work on today’s blog. While working away, we looked up through the bus windows and saw the glow of movie screens. We identified the movie as none other than THE Madagascar. Let me tell ya, the sneezies are outraged. Hayleigh commented, “I wish we had binoculars.” And to our surprise, Mia responds, “Of course I have some.” We then took a brief intermission from writing to try to join the movie watching fun. Unfortunately, not even Mia’s binoculars could include us.

We do have one message for the other groups:  Miss America is jammin' out and having our own fun tonight!

Peace out TWB blog, the Sneezies will miss sharing our fun with you!
