Day 14- Driving into Salt Lake City!

Day 14: Utah

The Sneezies are back and brought some tissues for you guys this time.

We had a long day of driving today as we drove from California to Utah. Our day started with a very chilly morning and lots of dew on the ground. Some of us did not sleep well because we were cold and kept sliding down the hill. Others were woken up by a seagull wandering around the bus.  Certain people woke up early in panic because it was light outside and did not hear the wakeup call…they didn’t call though.  We slept for a couple hours before our stop at Walmart.  It was a short stop but the cooks got some fantabulous food for breakfast: yogurt parfaits with fruit and granola, a banana and honey buns (yum!). The cooks weren’t the only ones that made some Walmart purchases. Elliot bought a potato to snack on. He drew a face on it and others added a beard, top hat, and a butt. When he did start eating it a few of us gave it a try. Sierra and Claira weren’t fans of the raw potato, but Gabe and Ellie claimed it wasn’t too shabby. I think we all agree it’s a little weird though… maybe it’s a Kansas thing? Lots of beverages were also purchased as we don’t seem to know how to ration the water. Harrison drank a 6-pack of Kool-Aid and soon after started asking when the next bathroom stop would be. When Dallas told him it would be about 30 minutes, it didn’t seem like that could be the case because we were out in the middle of NOWHERE. Harrison declared, “There ain’t no way we’re gettin’ nowhere in 30 minutes. There’s just a mountain. That's all.” Thankfully we made it before anyone had to join the pee-in-a-bottle club.

Good morning from the us AND the seagull

Our afternoon consisted of karaoke with the Biebs, Jimmy Buffet and more. Ellie was the winner with a classic Bieber song and a high score of 10/10. Dallas, Sierra, Carson, Davis, Kieran, Addy and Ainsley also had beautiful performances. People were interviewed about their personal lives and TWB experience so far in front of the bus.  There was a spelling bee between Kieran and Jack Jack. Naturally, Kieran won as “fashionable” got Jack Jack out. Our 8 hour drive was rewarded with a nice lick on the salt flats. After about 5 minutes we got right back on the bus and headed to our indoor (yay!) campsite.

We got to our campsite and quickly took showers because we could not wait much longer to open our mail! After ring-around the rosy and the hokey pokey, we finally got our mail passed out to us. We were anxiously waiting on the last package to be passed out so we could start opening all our gifts and cards. It truly felt like Christmas in June!!! Everything meant so much to us, especially the hand written cards. Thanks to everyone who thought of us during the trip, we love y’all lots!

Goodnight! Aaaachoooo
