Day 11- Highway 1

Day 11: Highway 1

Today we woke up at 5:30am at El Capitan State Beach, California. We loaded the buses and left at around 6:15am to head to the famous Highway 1. For the first hour or so, a lot of people slept. We quickly made another walmart stop where the cooks got more food and we shopped around for our favorite snacks and some coffee. Our breakfast this morning consisted of a variety of PopTarts and oranges. After breakfast, we made a stop at Ragged Point on Highway 1 to take pictures and enjoy the view. We continued on our journey down the breathtaking highway 1. It was crazy to see the mountains and ocean at the same time. We made a few extra stops on highway 1 so we could take more pictures and take it all in that we are at the halfway point of the trip.

We then got back on the buses and quickly passed out lunch. We had hawaiian roll sandwiches, cheez itz, apples, and chocolate donuts. They were all so yummy! We arrived in Monterey in the late afternoon where a few people shared their research on Highway 1, Cannery Row, and the Pacific Ocean. Everyone shared some great information about these places. After the research presentations, we were given roughly an hour to explore and shop the shops of Cannery Row. Some went to the donut shop, while others went to gift shops. Others bought meals before our departure from Monterey.

We left Monterey at 4:45pm to head to the great city of San Francisco. We ate dinner on the bus tonight which consisted of sub sandwiches with chips and rice crispy treats. Putting BBQ chips on the subs was definitely a hit! The trek from Monterey to San Francisco took about three hours due to some heavy traffic. We had a little trouble with our arrival into the city due to the tight turns and steep streets. After navigation and help from Riley, we finally made it to the Waller Center in the suburbs of San Francisco. Tonight, we bed down in a basketball gym and a room full of bunk beds as we prepare for our upcoming day in the Golden Gate City.
