Day 12-San Francisco

Day 12: San Francisco

Today we woke up bright and early and headed towards the famous Cliff House. Before we left for the day, Ainsley and Gabe went with Grant and Brooks to take the laundry to be cleaned for us. The drive was very short this morning to the coast. When we got there, we hiked a short distance down toward a cave with a pretty view at the end. We were able to go into a small tunnel that had some graffiti on it which was pretty cool. After that experience we headed to the Fisherman's Wharf. From the Wharf, we could see the famous Alcatraz. There were seals playing in the bay and as always Dallas took plenty of pictures of us. When we left the Wharf, most went into shops, cafes, and/or explored landmarks.

A lot of us even got gifts for you guys at home ranging from sweatshirts and t-shirts to key chains. Some of us went to the infamous In-and-Out and it was better than we could have imagined. Some people even collected shirts and stickers to take back home. After that, a lot of us parted ways to explore even more of San Francisco… and some maybe even took a few wrong turns. Don’t worry, we’ve figured out how to read paper maps by now. San Francisco had so much to offer when it came to entertainment, including the people. One of those was one of our own, aka Riley, who invested in a flattering Chinese robe. After a good deal of shopping, we made our way to the Far East Cafe in Chinatown for a great dinner. They had so much food including beef, sweet and sour chicken, noodles, rice and lots of vegetables. Then some of us stopped by an ice cream shop to top off the amazing dinner (the ice cream was also amazing, by the way).

To end out the afternoon, we made our way to see the one and only Golden Gate Bridge. Well, mostly see. The fog over there was crazy! What’s even more crazy is the fact that we walked across it. From what we could see, it was amazing. Even Anna was able to enjoy it despite her fear of bridges. Overall, it was great and the views couldn’t be topped. We then loaded the buses and were able to warm up after the chill of the bridge.

We headed back to our sleeping quarters where we began to do our jobs one last time before switching again. We also got our laundry back and don’t worry, someone did it for us so our clothes are clean and stain free. We then headed to take showers, reorganized our duffle bags, and got into our sleeping bags for a good indoor sleep before the early morning.

Peace out, The Sleepy’s!
